Tracking Value from Business Case to Deployment

How to Visualize Value

Organizations need to stop keeping IT in the dark when it comes to the "value" of their initiatives. Or marketeers should acknowledge that they are ignorant or lazy about detailing them to IT. So how do we make IT become part of the ROI solution ?

Can a simple model like the V.V.F. Value Visualization Framework discuss, define, measure and prioritize software development initiatives based on the ability to deliver on expectations of Value ?

What are the 5 steps to V.V.F. ?  How does our Estimation of Story Size - and delaying the delivery to another Sprint - affect Value? We know these affect Cost Savings, but do we as Product Owners, Planners and Change Agents have the terminology to describe and measure economic and business value ?

Hey, we talked about this at the July 2013 meeting, and it is about time we talked about it again. This topic is one that we may not consider enough when we talk about making our software effective to the organization.

About our speaker Mike Harris:

Michael Harris has more than 30 years of broad management experience in the IT field, including periods in R&D, development, production, business, and academia.

He is an author and speaker on a range of topics related to the Value Visualization of IT, and is considered a thought leader in the  software development industry. He is president, CEO and majority owner of David Consulting Group (DCG) in Malvern.

They are a tremendous sponsor to Agile Philly and have numerous classes for in-depth training in Agile techniques. Their last talk at Agile Philly was March 2014 - Function Points for Quantitative Sizing of Software.

Yes, those who RSVP as DEFINITELY YES and RSVP as MAYBE are sent to our meeting host for security badges.

But the pizza headcount is hard to do with NO SHOWS and MAYBEs.  This particular event has an extra pizza because I invited and I expect several Frontline employees to show up for this great topic.

(Hint be sure to check on Tom Cagley of David Consulting Group and his topic

Agile Risk Management on October 5th !

It is now common practice to close the RSVP checkbox on the prior day, so that the security badges can be printed.

I had RSVPed maybe, so I'm not sure if I was on the list.  Can someone please let me know. It is a long drive to Malvern to not be on the list :(
