Creative Tension, Pull Systems & Swing Dancing -with Bonnie Aumann
Creative Tension in product development: "The gap between vision and current reality is also a source of energy. If there were no gap, there would be no need for any action to move towards the vision. We call this gap creative tension." Peter Senge of The Fifth Discipline
Creative tension in swing dance: the pressure needed to be in clear non-verbal communication with your partner
There is a sign-posting deck for an interactive workshop where participants experience the power and delight that this tension can inspire in teams of people working together toward a common cause.
The context for this was at Agile 2014, a group of spiffy people met up for a whiskey tasting. At some point Arlo Belshee (@arlobelshee) declared that he'd always wanted to learn to swing dance. Corey Innis (@coreyti) offered to help teach. Marc Johnson (@marcjohnson) and I (@bonniea) looked on with kind amusement as they both tried to lead and then magic happened.
6:00 pm - Food + Discussion
6:30 pm - Main Speaker: Bonnie Aumann
7:30 pm - Kata: Please bring your laptop!
