Event Description

December is kind of a crazy month, so we would like to have a code kata night on November 30th instead.

The proposed exercise for this event is "roll your own testing framework". So, bring your laptops and your brains, but leave junit and rspec and all the rest at home, okay?

We'll have pizza too.

Hey! There is nothing crazy about rolling out our own testing framework or trying hard on not using getters and setters as a calisthenics kata :)

Could we at least consider other languages? The last kata that we did at work was a simple exercise (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bizz_buzz) but you picked a language out of a hat. We had Java, Scala, Python, Clojure and Groovy as languages. Even if you did not finish, you learned a little bit of that language for that kata.

It was fun! And OK, maybe a little crazy :)

For next time: We discussed doing a "Back to basics" code kata night where we don't do anything crazy like roll your own or object calisthenics. Instead we will pull simple ideas out of a hat and do that with pairing and TDD

More info about the proposed exercise if you are wondering: We are going to be testing the bowling game. We want the tests to be as expressive as possible so that a non-programmer could read and write them, but we are going to pretend that we don't have junit or rspec to build them on.
