General George Gordon Meade - the victor at Gettyburg over Confederate General Robert E Lee -is getting a picnic in his honor.
Well, it is him and his horse Old Baldy.
General Meade - a Philadelphian and one of the co-creators of Fairmount Park, where he would ride his horse Old Baldy through it almost daily. - is the patron saint of AgilePhilly.
And on May 15 2021 there is a picnic at his statue near the Please Touch Museum.

The picture used here is of his equestrian statue in Philadelphia located in Fairmount Park near the Please Touch Museum.
The statue in Fairmount Park is notable for being the work of Alexander Milne Calder - who made the statue of William Penn that stands atop City Hall. ( The son and grandson of Calder have works of art in and around the Phila Museum of Art.)
The one in Fairmount park is older, unveiled on October 18th, 1887 with 30,000 people in attendance.
Also, the citizens of Philly and the nation were so grateful for his service that they gave him and his family a house in Philadelphia.
