Kanban expert and long time friend of AgilePhilly Daniel Vacanti is speaking in Bala Cynwyd on Wednesday June 3rd.

Daniel Vacanti is one of the most requested speakers at AgilePhilly and his talks include March 2012 and the Two Part Kanban Simulation that he gave at the AgileTour October meeting in 2013 at eBay.

His different outlook at the 2013 "Panel of Experts" showed everyone that Kanban does more than provide answers to problems, but truly changes the questions being asked.

Location:

This meeting will be starting a little early at 5:00, and it is at a new location - Susquehanna Intl Group in Bala Cynwyd.

Format:

A meet and greet and eat - from 5 pm to 6 pm.

We encourage everyone to be on time at 5 because pizza is being served in their Game Room. We then reconvene in the formal meeting room to hear Daniel's latest and greatest.

Talk from 6pm to 7pm

Topic:Kanban! or Sizing is Not the Problem

“Our team can’t limit Work In Progress, because limiting WIP requires all work items to be of the same size.” Heard that one before?
How about, “Upfront planning and estimation (relative complexity sizing) are necessary to achieve predictability”?
These myths still permeate the Agile community even though neither could be further from the truth. This session will discuss some reasons why work item size does not matter and will introduce some more fruitful improvements to focus on when addressing the very real problems of variability and predictability.

For downtown members,

  • SEPTA is pretty straight forward from the city – the 44 bus will drop you off right in front of the building. You can pick this up from 29th Street, right in front of 30th Street Station, in addition to several other places in the city.

  • Transportation from the Western Suburbs, most people drive.  There is a big, free parking lot.
  • Someone recommended HopStop to get an estimate.
