SUMMARY:Austin Palmer & his Penmanship
DESCRIPTION: Austin Norman Palmer (December 22, 1860 – November 16,
1927) innovated the field of penmanship with the development of the Pa
lmer method of script.\r\n\r\nHe noticed that the Spencerian script wa
s impractical, with many flourishes, especially for businessmen and cl
erks.\r\n\r\nSo he developed the Palmer method of script, which was si
mple and had no intricate flourishes. His script has been very importa
nt in the history of handwriting / penmanship.\r\n\r\nhuh?\r\n Ok.  T
he Sesqui-Centennial International Exposition of 1926 was a world's fa
ir in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Its purpose was to celebrate the 150
th anniversary of the signing of the United States Declaration of Inde
pendence, and the 50th anniversary of the 1876 Centennial Exposition.\
r\n\r\nIt was also when a Gold Medal was given for .... Penmanship in
Book Form The Palmer method developed around 1888 was formally  intr
oduced in the book \"Palmer's Guide to Business Writing (1894) \" and
was awarded a Gold Medal in 1926 at the Phila Expo of 1926.\r\n\r\nBef
ore this, from about 1840, the Spencer Method ( think of the Ford Logo
and the CocaCola Logo ) as the defacto style of writing in America.\r
\n \r\nAnd then in the latter half of the twentieth century, the Zaner
-Bloser method and the D'Nealian method contended for students' attent
ion.\r\nNow, our phones and computers are the contenders.\r\n\r\nhttps
