SUMMARY:A Shoe Pounding before a US Election
DESCRIPTION:\r\n A supposed Shoe-pounding incident is highly debated 
 if it ever occurred.\r\n\r\nThe head of the U.S.S.R. was accused of po
 unding his shoe on a desk to make himself louder.  It likely did not 
 happen.\r\n\r\nOctober 12, 1960\r\nNikita Khrushchev earlier removed h
 is tight loafers and one was on the desk.  He began pounding the desk
  with his fist which broke his watch band making him angrier.  Howeve
 r, he may have brandished the show during the exchange, but it is unli
 kely that he ever pounded it like a gavel.\r\n\r\nHowever, the moderat
 or did break his gavel when closing the debates for the day.\r\n \r\n
 This happened THREE WEEKS before the Nixon-Kennedy Election and was se
